The Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center will host an informational night for middle and high school students interested in participating in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) during the 2013-2014 school year.
The event will be held this Monday, September 16 beginning at 6 p.m. at 9889 Wade Boulevard.
Young Entrepreneurs Academy takes students in grades six through twelve through the process of starting and running real businesses over the course of a full academic year. Students work in close cooperation with local leaders of industry, community members and educators to develop ideas and objectives, write business plans, pitch potential investors, obtain funding, register with governmental agencies, develop their brand identity and much more. By the end of the class, students own and operate fully functioning businesses that can be carried on after graduation.
YEA! is run by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. Frisco ISD partners with the Chamber in encouraging interested students and families to take advantage of this opportunity.
Attendees will learn more about the structure, fees, curriculum and application process for the YEA! program. Students and their families will also have the chance to meet recent YEA! graduates and learn about their experience in the program and their businesses.
Business leaders can also learn how to get involved with YEA! as a mentor, guest lecturer or how to join the “Investor” Panel. This information event is free and open to the public.
The deadline to apply to participate in the program is September 30. Brochures and applications will be available at the event.
