8th Grade Reuniting

Due to the split up of the 8th grade this year, your last year in middle school, many have asked if we could have a reuniting event.

In honor of Maestoso, we will extend the event through afternoon tutorials on Thursday, December 20. If you’re a current 8th grade student in my class, you may choose to attend this event to reconnect with your peers from the original class. Please consider bringing your favorite book you’ve read this year wrapped to exchange in a “White Elephant” style gift exchange. Also, feel free to bring a snack and water for your personal enjoyment.

Time: 3:40-4:05 PM
Date: Thursday, December 20, 2012
Place: Room 614
Bring (optional): Your favorite book, wrapped, and a snack/water for your personal enjoyment
Wear: Blue for Maestoso, of course!

The Hobbit

With the recent release of The Hobbit movie adaptation, I wanted to share a few interesting facts and resources about Tolkien, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings. Enjoy!

  • There is a The Lord of the Rings symphony.
  • Some universities offer Tolkien classes.
  • Tolkien loved word play and even invented his own languages for fun.
  • The Hobbit was born from a comment Tolkien wrote on a student paper.
  • Starting next school year, GT ILA 8th graders across the district will read The Hobbit as part of the GT ILA course!

Tonight’s Homework

7th grade, here’s your assignment! It’s due tomorrow!
